Dylan K. Cook (They/Them/Theirs) is a conductor, flutist, and educator based in Tucson, Arizona. They are pursuing a Master’s Degree in Wind Band Conducting at the University of Arizona under Dr. Chad Nicholson. As part of their studies, Dylan is a Graduate Assistant for the Sudler Award Winning Pride of Arizona Marching Band, and they conduct the UA Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. Dylan received a Bachelor’s in Music Education and Flute Performance from the University of Arizona under Dr. Brian Luce, during which time they held the position of Assistant Director of Flutefinity. Additionally, they led performances with the Flowing Wells High School Instrumental Music Program in 2025, and the Pima Orchestra in 2024.

On flute, they have performed two solo recitals, premiered several works by local composers, and have been a guest musician in the services of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church and Christ Church United Methodist. Dylan is also an in-demand chamber musician, having worked as Assistant Director and Solo Alto of Flutefinity, founding the Grapevine Wind Quintet, and playing on several recitals in the voice and wind areas. As an ensemble player, they sat Principal Flute and Piccolo of the UA Wind Symphony under Prof. Chad Shoopman for three years and Flute II of the UA Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Chad Nicholson for two years.

In addition to performing, Dylan is an active educator in the field of music. They operate a private studio and have engaged in community outreach through local high school band programs and K-12 music recruitment efforts. Prior to this, they held the position of Sectional Facilitator for the Tucson New Horizons Band and worked as an integrated music theory tutor for two years at the University of Arizona.

Before coming to Arizona, they played in the pit orchestra for the ManeStage Theatre Company and were a guest member of the Sølvvinden Flute Ensemble at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington State. They were also the recipient of the Jackie McTee Regional Scholarship which funded private lessons with the award-winning flutist Dr. Jennifer Rhyne. After their graduate studies, Dylan is interested in continuing their work in the recording studio as a performer and conductor.
